19Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel stole her father’s ahousehold gods.1 Samuel 25:4-8
4David heard in the wilderness that Nabal bwas shearing his sheep. 5So David sent ten young men. And David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him in my name. 6And thus you shall greet him: c‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have. 7I hear that you have shearers. Now your shepherds have been with us, and we did them no harm, dand they missed nothing all the time they were in Carmel. 8Ask your young men, and they will tell you. Therefore let my young men find favor in your eyes, for we come eon a feast day. Please give whatever you have at hand to your servants and to your son David.’”1 Samuel 25:36
36And Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, fhe was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart gwas merry within him, for he was very drunk. So she told him nothing hat all until the morning light.2 Samuel 13:23-29
Absalom Murders Amnon
23After two full years Absalom had isheepshearers at Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim, and Absalom invited all the king’s sons. 24And Absalom came to the king and said, “Behold, your servant has sheepshearers. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant.” 25But the king said to Absalom, “No, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome to you.” He pressed him, but he would not go but gave him his blessing. 26Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” And the king said to him, “Why should he go with you?” 27But Absalom pressed him until he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him. 28Then Absalom commanded his servants, “Mark when Amnon’s jheart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then kill him. Do not fear; have I not commanded you? Be courageous and be valiant.” 29So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each mounted his mule and fled.
